Mechanochemical regulation of self-assembly
Welcome to the Shekhar lab at Emory University.
The goal of our lab is to understand how emergent dynamics arise from the complex interplay between individual parts. We study this question at the scale of individual molecules (actin dynamics) and organismal scale (evolution of multicellularity). We are especially interested in the role of mechanical forces in this transition.
Our lab employs an integrated multi-disciplinary approach combining single-molecule biophysical and biochemical experiments combined with mathematical modelling to address these questions.
